'We Use 100% Degradable Bags' When its time is up bags turn to small pieces, ultimately to powder! Time Sensitive Bags!

#1 Nice and whole-Intact ready to fill its function as a 'container' & content keeper. Don't be surprised when you after a year find in your locker that the art utensiles you stowed-away no longer are safe..tidy.
Molecules and nano-science and more and the 'teeth of time' had done its work . The miracle is that the bags are so predictably time-sensitive even if they are not placed in the garbage dump to degrade.

#2 For the Good, the Bad or even Worse consequences..in this the life time of the bag was merely 10 months until it started falling apart..the bags 'journey to become eventually worthless and also britle and unreliable as a carrying receptacle turning 'degradable' and of no harm to the environment' had begun?? No harm? YOU DECIDE.

#3 MAY I SUGGEST THAT SIGNAGE , A CAUTION SIGN..A PRINT IS MADE ON ALL SIDES OF THE BAG TO 'CAUTION ITS USE' AND ALSO TELLING ABOUT THE LIMITATIONS OF THIS TYPE OF 'Carry-On Luggage' as the bag 'ages faster than a baby-boomer in sunny California', even 'above-ground'.

The Great Wave ; One Nautical mile out

Study this photo.

"Photographed this late afternoon on the shores of the Semiahmoo Bay near the BNSF railroad tracks 26th Dec. 2009.

A scenery I think you can agree is astoundingly powerful in all its beauty..but the mirage of the great wave is almost like an omen; a premonition."

Petition; Reduction of Microwave and Radiation ; PARTICIPATE PLEASE.

MICROWAVE RADIATION - PETITION

Please see attached Petition to government of Canada requesting protection from ever increasing microwave radiation. A press conference is planned for this week.
The organizers of this Petition are requesting all Canadians who support such action to add their signature.

If you wish to be part of this Petition, please email Francois Therrien ftherrien@aei.ca with your name, location, and approval to be added to the petition as soon as possible.

Please, also forward to anyone you think would like to support this motion.

Please
note that the world is changing and bringing in new standards. On December 4,
2009, a court ruled that a cell tower in Santa Cruz had to be removed due to ill
health concerns.

Also note that France is lowering radiation emissions from
antennae in 16 towns in a test project aimed at reducing microwave emissions
throughout France.

238 French towns have currently applied to have the cell
tower emissions reduced to the standards recommended in the BioInitiative
Read Report.

Participate in 'Skiing White Rock' held at Mt. Baker, Washington WA

A great opportunity for 'ski-lovers'..Cross-country or downhill slalom or any boards. Take a bus from White Rock, BC and venture into our 'designated White Rock Ski-Domain on the mountain.

Safe and sound for any age..almost....make it the day-trip, bring change and exchange....and more...

Friends I wish someone could make this idea a reality. A tour company.....

The other idea I equally see as possible to implement is 'Skate White Rock' on our own rink or South Surrey's.

Maybe active Rita Clarkson , Director Leisure Services in White Rock, can give the idea a shot in the arm.

What's your take on this?

Best regards,

bad and the seemingly good.

What is good anyway in these days of upheaval?

All is relative. In my case it was good..wow.
I made it to the tooth brush this morning. I gave my mirror the compliments its

GOOD MORNING!

I should be retired . I am not. Just tired
sometimes. Tired of listening to those much younger bitching about trivial
things. You've heard it before.. Now before continuing on this click and read the

I could write: 'I lost my former homeland
[Sweden] to the Muslims..to the migrants invading a peaceful and cultural land
[in its very own special uniqueness of Viking heritage] ways. The borders were
overrun by migrants throwing their pass ports into the blue waters of the sea upon landing on the shores of southern Sweden or Denmark.

Welfare Sweden stood with open hands and provided more services, support and social benefits to the immigrants and refugees than my own child at the time received. I am one of the minority in this country of Canada. I am a Canadian by Choice [since April 1988] and I am proud of my choice.

You may not have had a chance of choice; still be proud and content. You are luckily living in one of the most desired countries in the world to live in.

The same thing and phenomenon is hitting home in Canada.

I guess this is in part of growing old and mature...things change and change is good says Obama....his mantra has not changed. US is in essence bankrupt and the dollar formerly being strong and vibrant is today like a jellyfish ..limp, flexible and unstable in all aspects while the hard gold is precious and increasing in cost.

The price of gold is indicating the 'storm is not over yet'. You don't need to be a qualified 'fortune teller or psychic' to read the clouds on our horizons.

Dung will still hit the, fan but not until after the Olympics in Vancouver 2010.

Oh while I am at it.about the torch...

.It wasn't in Greece the invention of the 'Olympic' torch was made.. It wasn't in Athens it was by Hitler Olympics 1936 in Berlin that the symbol of the torch saw its inception and introduction...'correct me if I am wrong'.

Don't believe in a soon and fast recovery of economies in Canada and the USA. That's not going to happened.

Regarding slide risks on Warren Buffett's tracks of railroad [he just purchased BNSF], risks a imminent... we just need to stage a powerful rally and 'make noise' to get the attention of the 'acrobats' guiding our choir, our province today; its a maze..no it's a mess.!

There was a little old lady who was nearly blind. She had three sons and they wanted to prove which one was the best son to her.

So son #1 bought her a 15-room mansion thinking this would surely be the best any of them could offer her.

Son #2 bought her a beautiful Mercedes with a chauffeur included thinking he would surely win her approval.

Son #3 had to do something even better than these so he bought her a trained parrot. This parrot had been trained for 15 years to memorize the entire Bible. You could mention any verse in the Bible and the parrot could quote it word for word. How useful his nearly blind mother would find that!

Well, the old lady went to the first son and said, "Son, the house is just gorgeous but it's really much too big for me. I only live in one room, and it's much too large for me to clean and take care of. I really don't need the house, but thank you anyway."

Then she explained to her second son, "Son, the car is beautiful, it has everything you could ever want on it, but I don't drive and I really don't like that driver, so please return the car."

Next, she went to son number three and said, "Son, I just want to thank you for that thoughtful gift. The chicken was small, but delicious."

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity...'disastrous results after exposure..and nowhere to seek help? Is Canada Ready?

Electro-Magnetic-Hyper-Sensitivity
Frequency in our environments....radiation from cell towers and transmission devices of wireless signals..from hand held devices to laptop PC's in schools and work places..Wi-Fi etc.,

The following is a sad story and in Germany the awareness is acute after all research being recognized by most ..who cares; Science is behind the revelation of the obvious negatives coming from 'wireless' and ;chemical pollution' as well; [including Medical & the Scientific authorities supporting claims made by all].

Forwarded to you with the hope to gain understanding for what should not take place in BC or in Canada or elsewhere, for that matter.

"Hi All
Being electro hyper-sensitive (EHS) can be painful, bad for health, employment, relationships and quality of life. Being EHS and havng multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS), makes living even harder. The sad story below is from Germany, but here in Canada, in Toronto, we have a victim who is suffering on a similar scale (maybe worse) to Angelika. If you feel that you can provide any help or support to 'Linda', please contact me and I will pass your information on.

The last few months of the life of Angelika S. who was chemically sensitive
Chemical sensitivity – MCS is recognized as a disease and as a physical disability in Germany. The disease is coded at ICD-10 with T78.4 as an organic disease. One might think that people with MCS get proper medical treatment, are treated with fairness like other disabled people, get special workplaces and receive help. Sadly all of this is still lacking in Germany. People with MCS are left without medical attention and accommodations. If their families are unable to take care of them they are lost. For the very sick this sad and unacceptable situation can end in disaster as in the following authentic case.

http://www.csn-deutschland.de/blog/en/the-last-few-months-of-the-life-of-angelika-s-who-was-chemically-sensitive/

The last few months of the life of Angelika S.

Six months ago Angelika S. was still doing fairly well. She lived with her family in a suburb of a German town. She loved animals and had a small animal hostel. She also cared deeply about other people.

I got to know her through my cousin who often visited her and mentioned four months ago that Angelika too had strange symptoms similar to my own. Suddenly, she didn’t tolerate fabric softeners – the shower gel of her family, the deodorants and a lot more now made her sick. My cousin told her about me and so we got in touch, first writing letters. She was looking for informational material about chemical sensitivity and I was sending it to her. About the same time I heard that she couldn’t tolerate the furniture and the flooring anymore and was sleeping on the kitchen floor on blankets. From now on everything went incredibly fast…

Nearly every day my cousin called me to report new intolerances. Because of the heat in August, she could only sleep outside on the patio on a kind of futon mat made from compatible materials. Then even this wasn’t possible anymore for her…

Calling an environmental doctor she was told, she would have to wait several weeks (vacation etc.). Then I could contact to her on the phone too. She was able to talk only five or seven minutes, because in addition now she had become electromagnetically sensitive.

Then I gave her the advice to drive to a nature area in her neighbourhood. She did so with her husband each morning between 7 and 8 o’clock. There she did much better. But it speeded up: difficulty in breathing… heart palpitations …. decreased muscle tonus in the arms and legs …. pulmonary problems …. everything took a turn for the worse.

Since she couldn’t use the phone anymore, I talked to her husband instead. In September he brought her to an abandoned campsite of his club and they slept in the car…in small cars…she in her car and he in his car because his one was contaminated with chemicals from his work. During the daytime he had to drive 25 kilometres to his workplace and to leave her alone there. In the evening he was cooking the meals for her and brought them to her… again 25 kilometres … The nights in the car… bad for the joints.

Then her husband called the environmental doctor again and got the advice to arrange a clean room for her in their house. He should tile the room and keep her in it. So he removed the floor, tiled the room and painted the walls with safe chalk paint. Angelika still was at the campsite, alone during the daytime and it started to get colder…Two air purifiers where bought from PureNature, oxygen for the ride to her home… and then the attempt to bring her back to the new safe room. During the whole time her husband had to take time off from work which got more and more difficult. They had to worry that he would lose his job too.

When she was back at home, my cousin couldn’t come for a visit anymore. Also no one from the family could come to see her. When her son came, she had to escape, and had no contact to her beloved grandchild.

I have had Multiple Chemical Sensitivity for over ten years now, but I had the chance to grow into the situation and I know what isolation means. The soul suffers…tears come…sometimes depression…and when there is no or little hope and you do not really know what will happen to you…then everything is even worse.

But Angelika was learning fast and tried to avoid everything which made her sick; she ate organic food and changed everything. But it takes time until all smells are out of a general household.

I supported her as much as I could by calming her down and providing her with information…Then the appointment with the environmental doctor came…He said that she has full blown Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and suggested a therapy only of B12 shots for six weeks daily with added B1 and B6. She started his therapy, but everything got worse.

Angelika had reached the end stage of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity in only six months.
When she still wasn’t doing so badly – that was in September this year – I had offered her a invitation to come to my place and try it here, but she wanted to try first the tiled room at home.

Last Saturday her husband called me to tell me that they had to drive to the forest or to a graveyard each night. Otherwise she wasn’t able to breathe…The heating period made the air in the town intolerable for Angelika. Each night she suffered from heart palpitations, shortness of breath and many more symptoms.

I told them to try to come over to me and so they arrived at nine o’clock Saturday, October 25th.

The last days of the life of Angelika S,
She arrived totally exhausted with a mask and heavy use of oxygen on the ride. We placed her on the porch.
For me her clothes were totally contaminated from her environment. I had to keep distance. Then she wanted to change her clothes. I offered her some of my clothes, but she couldn’t tolerate them. I had used an unscented safe washing powder which I tolerate very well.

To let her into the house we had to shower her in the evening. I found old jogging pants of my husband’s and a cotton pullover; both had not been washed for a long time, and socks…

But on what should she sleep? She couldn’t tolerate wood anymore, no natural wood furniture. It didn’t matter if it was old or not. She even couldn’t tolerate the very old closet in the room we arranged for her. She wanted to sleep on the floor on linen which had not been washed for a long time and on a blanket which had been hanging in the attic for a long time too.

The windows to the forest were open all night and all day…

We live here in Germany in a wide forest area at Vogelsberg and so she was doing well with the clean air. However, last Monday it got damp and foggy and we had bad weather.

Her hope vanished that she would slightly recover here, but she wanted to try. She didn’t want to go back…

Either she lay or sat on the porch …. I cooked for her, gave her much water to drink …. tried everything possible to help her to restore her soul and mind …. told her about CSN and other sufferers who had recovered by avoiding substances and by isolating themselves. Each day we left for a walk in order to get some fresh air. So far she was still able to walk for an hour. On Tuesday, though slowly, she was able to walk until a car passed by and left exhaust emissions, which affected her in spite of her mask.

Then she said she couldn’t live a life as I do, without people around her and in isolation for such a long time and then it got worse and worse. She had no hope that she could stay here any longer because she couldn’t tolerate the damp air especially during the nights. She refused to eat or drink anymore. She was in despair and her mucous membranes were – as in her home – bright red and swollen.

She had to leave, but where to go????

We were considering many possibilities: Switzerland, North Sea…back to the campsite because there is not that much forest in its neighbourhood…setting up an aluminium shed…but how to heat it…and so forth….

On Wednesday at 3 o’clock p.m. the son of my cousin came with a big car which was safer than her car. Her husband and we said goodbye…

They didn’t know where to go…they didn’t know…what to do….so they first drove back to her tiled room and then to the close-by nature site.

She survived the ride at five degrees Celsius inside the car and then I heard nothing from them anymore.

On Thursday afternoon when her husband had to go to work and go shopping for food, she put an end to her life! I did not learn of it until Friday evening because it was the wish of her husband.

We are in deep grief about this lovely person…a human…who still could be living if there was accommodation for cases like hers in Germany. If there was just one clinic to go to which had clean rooms as at the Environmental Health Center in Dallas / USA. If we just had doctors who could diagnose chemical sensitivity in time. If we just had support for the relatives who don’t know why all this happens.

This ignorance and intolerance about environmental diseases MUST stop. These are diseases that have been described by scientists like Prof. Martin Pall and others. It’s well known what these diseases DO exist.

I have seen two suicides since last July.

Two precious humans who didn’t know what to do because of their boundless despair.
Two humans who felt as a burden to their families.
Two humans who had worked hard all their lives.

We lament Angelika S. and we are shocked because of the lack of help for people with severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

May the God of solace comfort the suffering of the relatives and may they find hope that their suffering is not forever….
That it will not be like this forever…
That the suffering stops some day…
And that some day there will be a recovery of all things lost…

"Aspartame" Artificial Sweetners; Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi [Nutra Sweet, Equal, Spoonful, and other brands of 'sweeteners']

SWEET POISON!
A MUST READ!

In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick. She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around.
Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain.

By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her.
She was in so much pain, and so sick she just knew she was dying .

She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in her oldest daughter's name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of.

She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

On March 19 I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn't find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS. I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I asked my sister if she drank diet soda?

She told me that she did. As a matter of fact, she was getting ready to crack one open that moment.

I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking the diet soda! I e-mailed her article my friend, a lawyer, had sent.

My sister called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me she had stopped drinking the diet soda AND she could walk!
The muscle spasms went away. She said she didn't feel 100% but, she sure felt a lot better.

She told me she was going to her doctor with this article and would call me when she got home.

Well, s he called me, and said her doctor was amazed! He is going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind.

In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda...and literally dying a slow and miserable death.

When she got to Florida March 22, all she had to take was one pill, and that was a pill for the Aspar tame poisoning! She is well on her way to a complete recovery. And she is walking!
No wheelchair! This article saved her life.

If it says 'SUGAR FREE' on the label; DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! I have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE on 'ASPARTAME,' marketed as 'Nutra Sweet,'
'Equal,' and 'Spoonful.'

In the keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States in 2001 there is an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causing this to be rampant. I stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.

I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous:
When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.
The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus.

Many people were being diagnosed in error.
Although multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, Methanol toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially withDiet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers.

The victim usually does not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become a life-threatening condition.

We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off diet sodas.

In cases of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, most of the symptoms disappear. We've seen many cases where vision loss returned and hearing loss improved markedly.

This also applies to cases of tinnitus and fibromyalgia.

During a lecture, I said, 'If you are using ASPARTAME (Nutra Sweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, Cramps, Vertigo, Dizziness, Headaches, Tinnitus, Joint pain, Unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss you probably have ASPARTAME poisoning!'

People were jumping up during the lecture saying, 'I have some of these symptoms. Is it reversible?'

Yes!
Yes!
Yes!
STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for Aspartame on food labels! Many products are fortified with it!

This is a serious problem.

Dr. Espart (one of my speakers) remarked that so many people seem to be symptomatic for MS and during his recent visit to a hospice; a nurse stated that six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been diagnosed with MS. This is beyond coincidence!

Diet soda is NOT a diet product!
It is a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM (salt) and ASPARTAME containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight!
These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin and is used primarily to preserve 'tissue specimens.'

Many products we use every day contain this chemical but we SHOULD NOT store it IN our body!

Dr. H. J. Roberts stated in his lectures that once free of the 'diet products' and with no significant increase in exercise; his patients lost an average of 19 pounds over a trial period.

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics.

We found that some physicians, who believed that they had a patient with retinopathy, in fact, had symptoms caused by Aspartame.
The Aspartame drives the blood sugar out of control.

Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids necessary for a good balance.

Treating diabetes is all about BALANCE.
Especially with diabetics, the Aspartame passes the blood/brain barrier and it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain; causing various levels of brain da mage, Seizures, Depression, Manic depression, Panic attacks,
Uncontrollable anger and rage.

Consumption of Aspartame causes these same symptoms in non-diabetics as well.
Documentation and observation also reveal that thousands of children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD have had complete turnarounds in their behavior when these chemicals have been removed from their diet.

So called 'behavior modification prescription drugs' (Ritalin and others) are no longer needed. Truth be told, they were never NEEDED in the first place!

Most of these children were being 'poisoned' on a daily basis with the very foods that were 'better for them than sugar.'

It is also suspected that the Aspartame in thousands of pallets of Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi consumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War, may be partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.

Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mental retardation, if taken at the time of conception and during early pregnancy.

Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NEVER be given artificial sweeteners.

There are many different case histories to relate of children suffering grand mal seizures and other neurological disturbances talking about a plague of neurological diseases directly caused by the use of this deadly poison.'

Herein lies the problem:
There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included in 100 different products and strong objection was made concerning its use. Since this initial hearing, there have been two subsequent hearings, and still nothing has been done. The drug and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets.

Sadly, MONSANTO'S patent on Aspartame has EXPIRED! There are now over 5,000 products on the market that contain this deadly chemical and there will be thousands more introduced. Everybody wants a 'piece of the Aspartame pie.'

I assure you that MONSANTO, the creator of Aspartame, knows how deadly it is.

And isn't it ironic that MONSANTO funds, among others, the American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians?

This has been re cently exposed in the New York Times.

These [organizations] cannot criticize any additives or convey their link to MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry and are required to endorse their products.

Senator Howard Metzenbaum wrote and presented a bill that would require label warnings on products containing Aspartame, especially regarding pregnant women, children and infants.

The bill would also institute independent studies on the known dangers and the problems existing in the general population regarding seizures, changes in brain chemistry, neurological changes and behavioral symptoms.

The bill was killed.

It is known that the powerful drug and chemical lobbies are responsible for this, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting and uninformed public. Well, you're informed now!

"White Rock, BIA to Begin Renewal Process" - Catherine Ferguson, Mayor

From :
THE CORPORATION OF THE
CITY OF WHITE ROCK
15322 BUENA VISTA AVENUE, WHITE ROCK, B.C. V4B 1Y6

Tel:: 604 541 2100

November 17, 2009
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Title:
"White Rock BIA to begin Renewal Process"

In 2005, the City of White Rock, with Bylaw No. 1764, established the White Rock Business
Improvement Association (BIA) with a mandate for five years, expiring on March 31, 2010.
With the expiration date only a few months away, the renewal process is underway.

The renewal procedure will be done in accordance with Section 213 of the Community Charter,
which involves a council initiative process.

Under this section, information must be advertised and mailed to property owners as per public
notice processes. The renewal process can then move forward unless prevented by a petition
against, signed by the owners of at least 50 per cent of the parcels that would be subject to the
BIA tax levy, and the persons signing must be the owners of at least 50 per cent of the assessed
value of the BIA area.

As the White Rock BIA embarks on the process of renewal, the City of White Rock stands behind their previous work, recognizing the benefit the association has brought to both the residents of White Rock and to the local businesses,” said Mayor Catherine Ferguson.

“In the past four years, the BIA has lived up to its mandate “to strengthen the economic viability withinthe White Rock Business Improvement Area”.

The BIA has also brought together business owners and commercial property owners from all over White Rock, including Uptown, Five Corners, East Beach and West Beach.

As the White Rock BIA is on the forefront of business enhancement, marketing and community improvement, the City of White Rock encourages the business community to re-establish a BIA.

It is hoped that the present legal issues with the BIA can be solved soon, otherwise the City has
requested that a new organization pursue the renewal of the BIA.

Special events and advertising promotions bring added value to the White Rock business community and culturally enhance the community and City as a whole.

Without the BIA, White
Rock wouldn’t enjoy an average of 24 annual events hosted by the organization, such as Summer Block Parties, the Bite of the Rock, or Chinese New Year activities.

The BIA also actively participates in organizing components of the annual Semiahmoo Bay International Regatta, Canada Day by the Bay and other events.
“Without the White Rock BIA, we wouldn’t enjoy these special events,” said Mayor Ferguson.

“It has become an integral part of our community.”

An Australian View and Stern Declaration...for your information.

November 2009: From Australia

Quote:

"Prime Minister Kevin Rudd - Australia
Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques.

Quote:
'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, Learn the Language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture..'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'
Maybe if we circulate this , American and Canadian citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

Zoo Dilemma in Germany. Berlin Bears Becoming Bald

Berlin Bears Beginning Baldness..- on the news -
Berlin Zoo.

The Germans planning to visit may just be out of luck...the Berlin zoo also depending on tourism, may be facing hard and bald times and changes must most likely be made.

Is there an equivalent to 'Rogaine' for bears? Predicament for sure....will the bears survive a normal hibernation cycle?

Will the bears get too cold and how well will the bald bears negotiate the climate in general?
It's a fact that kids must be stunned. Children and adults alike will be surprised to see bald bears in a German zoo when expecting to see a 'fully dressed, normal looking animal.

The Berlin and all of Germany Public Relations [PR] bear 'per preference', Knut is his name, we haven't heard much about in recent years.

A question entering my mind. Can the dilemma be caused by carbon-dioxide...from the unhealthy air and exhaust emitted by vehicles in this 'capital and cultural centre'.

Berlin is not a carbon-free city. Its residents will have to wait decades before that will be a dream fulfilled.

Hopefully Berlin's bald bears will recover. I must admit bald bears do not look so fine anymore.....and maybe it is a sign of climate changes or hormonal and gene manipulation caused by an unhealthy diet or electromagnetic wireless radiation from cell- and mobile devices.

And as delivered by phone frequency transmission towers and wireless, Wi-Fi, documented by science as emitters of harmful radiation, especially for children and students in schools.

Are the bald bears victims of electromagnetic radiation from wireless communications?

On the right course and bearing.

Yours truly

Times of Halloween, [warm rain] and Pumpkin Carvings in White Rock, BC

'HEALTHY PUMPKINS'
@ West Beach Bar & Grill 'Pumpkin carving competition'
Photo: Johan Sandstrom www.whiterockreporter.com

This was taken when the ground was wet and the rain , the warm late summer and early autumn rain sprinkled our neighbourhoods.

Kids were dressed warmer and became still wet while admiring the pumpkin carvers attempts to truly excel in their art form; carving in this huge number of pumpkins to see who will win and take home the prizes.

The Marine Drive in White Rock wasn't traveled as it used to be. Plenty of parking spaces and 'dead' was the environment. No more bustling of tourists and local visitors to walk the promenade or have a mocca and a cake or an early afternoon aperitif by the barside.

Maybe visitors have had enough of entertainments for the while being....? Parents may not like pumpkin festivals or carving competitions after all . However, I did discover after having looked around the area of the West Beach Grill, that kids love the challenge both weather and carving could offer each one of the four young ones I noticed, this late afternoon.

It seemed to me that only the dog owners were out this swampy and dreadfully water born environment on the 25th October 2009; I call it the 'wet Sunday' in White Rock, BC, on the 'Canadian Riviera'.
Enjoy.

How 'Blind Are You' When Walking or Driving While Talking On The Cell Phone, Mobile Phone? Loss of Concentration & Focus On Task At Hand.

Just How Blind Are You When Talking on a Cell Phone?

October 19, 2009...7:21 pm

http://neuronarrative.wordpress.com/2009/10/19/just-how-blind-are-you-when-talking-on-a-cell-phone/

cell-phone-driving_smallEveryday in the news we see stories decrying the use of
cell phones while driving. Research reports aplenty have been released
estimating the percentage of ones attention siphoned by mobile jabber and how
little is left to focus on the highway.

This is great and I'm glad the discussion is happening, but it might be useful to ask whether cell phone use in other (non-driving) venues has a similar effect on attention. What better way to make the point that cell phone use is dangerous when driving than showing its effect on someone doing something not nearly as focus intensive like walking, for instance.

That's exactly what the authors of a new study published in the journal Applied Cognitive
Psychology
wanted to do. Researchers examined the effects of divided
attention when people are either (1) walking while talking on a cell phone, (2)
walking and listening to an MP3 player, (3) walking without any electronics, or
(4) walking in a pair.

The measure of how much attention is diverted during any of these
activities is called inattentional blindness“ not seeing what's right in
front of you, or around you, due to a distracting influence. If you've ever
watched the YouTube video of the gorilla walking through the crowd
of people passing around a ball, then you've seen an example of inattentional blindness (here is a great paper
on the effect downloadable as a PDF).

For the first experiment of the study, trained observers were
positioned at corners of a large, well-traveled square of a university campus.
Data was collected on 317 individuals, ages 18 and older, with a roughly equal
breakdown between men and women.

The breakdown between the four conditions
(with MP3, with cell phone, etc) was also roughly equal. Observers measured
several outcomes for each individual, including the time it took to cross the
square; if the individual stopped while crossing; the number of direction
changes the individual made; how much they weaved, tripped or stumbled; and if
someone was involved in a collision or near-collision with another walker.

The results: for people talking on cell phones, every measure
with the exception of two (length of time and stopping) was significantly higher
than the other conditions. Cell phones users changed direction seven times as
much as someone without a cell phone (29.8% vs 4.7%), three times as much as
someone with an MP3 player (vs 11%), and weaved around others significantly more
than the other conditions (though, interestingly, the MP3 users weaved the least
of all conditions).

People on phones also acknowledged others only 2.1% of the time
(vs 11.6% for someone not on a phone), and collided or nearly collided with
others 4.3% of the time (vs 0% for walking alone or in a pair, and 1.9% when
using an MP3 player).

The slowest people, who also stopped the most, were walking in pairs. In fact, next to the other conditions walking in pairs was the only one that came anywhere close to using a cell phone across the range of measures.

The next experiment replicated the first, but only one measure
was tracked: whether or not walkers saw a clown unicycling across the square.
And this was an obnoxiously costumed clown, complete with huge red shoes,
gigantic red nose and a bright purple and yellow outfit. Interviewers
approached people who had just walked through the square and asked them two
questions: (1) did you just see anything unusual?, and (2) did you see the
clown?

The results: When asked if they saw anything unusual, 8.3% of
cell phone users said yes, compared to between 32 and 57% of those walking
without electronic devices, with an MP3 player, or in pairs. When asked if they
saw the clown, 25% of cell phone users said yes compared to 51%, 60% and 71.4%
of the other conditions, respectively. In effect, 75% of the cell phone users
experienced inattentional blindness. (The discrepancy between the 8.3% and the
25% might be because the clown didn’t register as something â€Å“unusualâ€ — this is,
after all, a university campus.)

So, coming back around to the original point — if using a cell
phone impairs attention as drastically as this study shows for people just
walking, could it by any stretch of the imagination be a good idea to use one
while driving?

One caveat to that concluding question should be mentioned: As
noted in the results, people walking in pairs–most likely talking to each
other–were next in line for inattentional blindness. This jibes with research
(discussed in this TIME article) indicating that talking to someone in your car
while driving is significantly distracting–perhaps not quite as much as chatting
on a cell phone, but in the neighborhood. Auditory cues, whether from a phone
or from the person next to you, divert attention. The problem with cell phones,
however, is that a user lacks the other set of eyes his co-chatter has to offer,
which could very well be the difference between being in an accident or getting
home safely.

A new study has shown that using a cell phone while walking is so
distracting that it causes inattentional blindness.

Washington, Oct 20 - ANI:

http://www.littleabout.com/news/40406,cellphone-usage-inattentional-blindness-walking.html#
Researchers at Western Washington University
investigated the effects of divided attention during walking.
Individuals were classified based on
whether they were walking while talking on a cell phone, listening to an MP3
player, walking without any electronics or walking in a pair.
In the first study, the researchers found
that cell phone users walked more slowly, changed directions more frequently,
and were less likely to acknowledge other people than individuals in the other
conditions.

In the second study, they
found that cell phone users were less likely to notice an unusual activity along
their walking route (a unicycling clown).
The study suggests that cell phone usage may cause
inattentional blindness even during a simple activity that should require few
cognitive resources. - ANI

Increased Fatalities From Cellphones Whether Talking While Walking or While
Driving

Main Category: IT /
Internet / E-mail

Article Date: 05 Mar 2009 - 4:00 PDT

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/141224.php#

Cell phones are a danger on the
road in more ways than one. Two new studies show that talking on the phone while
traveling, whether you're driving or on foot, is increasing both pedestrian
deaths and those of drivers and passengers, and recommend crackdowns on cell use
by both pedestrians and drivers.

The new studies, lead-authored by
Rutgers University, Newark, Economics Professor Peter D. Loeb, relate the impact
of cell phones on accident fatalities to the number of cell phones in use,
showing that the current increase in deaths attributed to cell phone use follows
a period when cell phones actually helped to reduce pedestrian and traffic
fatalities. However, this reduction in fatalities disappeared once the numbers
of phones in use reached a "critical mass" of 100 million, the study found.

These studies looked at cell phone use and motor vehicle accidents from
1975 through 2002, and factored in a number of variables, including vehicle
speed, alcohol consumption, seat belt use, and miles driven. The studies found
the cell phone-fatality correlation to be true even when weighing in factors
such as speed, alcohol consumption, and seat belt use.

Loeb and his
co-author determined that, at the current time, cell phone use has a
"significant adverse effect on pedestrian safety" and that "cell phones and
their usage above a critical threshold adds to motor vehicle fatalities." In the
late 1980s and part of the 1990s, before the numbers of phones exploded, cell
phone use actually had a "life-saving effect" in pedestrian and traffic
accidents, Loeb notes. "Cell-phone users' were able to quickly call for medical
assistance when involved in an accident. This quick medical response actually
reduced the number of traffic deaths for a time," Loeb hypothesizes.

However, this was not the case when cells were first used in the
mid-1980s, when they caused a "life-taking effect" among pedestrians, drivers
and passengers in vehicles. In those early days, when there were fewer than a
million phones, fatalities increased, says Loeb, because drivers and pedestrians
probably were still adjusting to the novelty of using them, and there weren't
enough cell phones in use to make a difference in summoning help following an
accident, he explains.

The "life-saving effect" occurred as the volume
of phones grew into the early 1990s, and increasing numbers of cells were used
to call 911 following accidents, leading to a drop in fatalities, explains Loeb.
But this life-saving effect was canceled out once the numbers of phones reached
a "critical mass" of about 100 million and the "life-taking effect" - increased
accidents and fatalities -- outweighed the benefits of quick access to 911
services, according to Loeb.

"The cell phone effect on pedestrian
fatalities" (Transportation Research Part E, Elsevier, Vol. 45, Issue 1, January
2009, with William A. Clarke, Bentley University, Waltham, MA,) looked at
pedestrian fatalities related to cell phone use; the still-to-be-released "The
impact of cell phones and BAC Laws on Motor Vehicle Fatality Rates" (Applied
Economics, Loeb, Clarke and Richard Anderson, New Jersey City University),
examines all cell-related traffic fatalities. Loeb and his co-authors used
econometric models to analyze data from a number of government and private
studies, including those by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,
the Department of Transportation, MADD, and the U.S. Census Bureau, among
others.

He and his co-authors recommend that governments consider more
aggressive policies to reduce cell phone use by both drivers and pedestrians, to
reduce the number of fatalities.

Human Kinetics / Excerpts

Walking while talking on a cell phone can be dangerous

By Richard A. Schmidt, PhD, and Craig A. Wrisberg,
PhD.

http://www.humankinetics.com/excerpts/excerpts/walking-while-talking-on-a-cell-phone-can-be-dangerous

Recent research suggests that walking and talking on a cell phone can be
dangerous (Hatfield & Murphy, 2007). In that study, the behaviors of more
than 500 pedestrians were observed as they crossed a street. Pedestrians who
were talking on a cell phone moved more slowly and were less likely to wait for
cars to stop or even look at traffic before setting out compared with those who
were not using a cell phone. These findings suggest that talking on a cell phone
is a form of cognitive distraction that can put pedestrians at risk.

These phenomena have also been demonstrated recently in studies about cell
phones and driving (see Strayer, Drews, & Johnston, 2003). It is not simply
the buttonpressing that is distracting; the conversation itself is
distracting—especially when you consider that button-pressing is brief and
conversation may be lengthy. This casts doubts about the effectiveness of the
recent bans on handheld cell phones (but not hands-free phones) while driving in
various U.S. states; because it is not only the action of the hands that is
distracting, these bans might not have very much effect on driver safety.
