"Not A Prayer, But a Hint For The Ones Distracted & Astray"
Life is a Journey. You cannot change the winds, but you can adjust your sails.
"Why We Have Friends
God knew that everyone needs
Companionship and cheer.
He knew that people need someone
whose thoughts are always near.
He knew that we need someone kind
to lend a helping hand.
Someone to gladly take the time
to care and understand.
God knew that we all need someone
to share each every day,
and to be a source of courage
when troubles come our way.
Someone to be true to us
whether near or far away;
someone whose love we can always hold
and treasure in our hearts...
And that's why God gave us friends!
And that's why I'm glad
God Gave Me You!"

Rules of a 'healthy lifestyle'....Best to You and Yours!
This is a sensible read....eh?\\"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"
1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".
26. Always choose life.
27. Forgive everyone everything.
28. What other people think of you is none of your business.
29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
32. Believe in miracles.
33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
36. Your children get only one childhood.
37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd
grab ours back.
40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
41. The best is yet to come.
42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
43. Yield.
44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.
It's estimated 93% won't forward this. If you are one of the 7% who will, forward this with the title '7%'. I'm in the 7%. Remember that I will always share my spoon with you! Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

Emergency Disaster Preparedness for Families, too!
Disaster Safety Tips
Educate your family. Find out what disasters are possible for your area whether it be earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, flooding, etc.
Make a "Ready to Go" kit or a "72 Hour" kit. Store it in a specific place in the home where everyone knows where it is and can get to it.
Water, water, water - remember, you can live many days without food, but not without water.
In your kit, pack foods that won't spoil such as canned soups, juices, crackers and jerky.
Make sure that you have a flashlight with extra batteries.
Include in your kit a first aid kit and medications. Especially if some family members need certain kinds of medications.
Also, in your kit, a change of clothes, an extra pair of sturdy shoes, and a blanket or bed roll.
Good Luck and Do Not Forget the Drinking Water and Tylenol
The story:
A few years back we had a Boy Scout in our neighborhood do an interesting project for his Eagle Scout Award. He went to our local elementary school and started talking about being prepared for a disaster.
As we all know, schools have fire drills constantly, but do they ever really consider any other kind of disasters?
As this world continues to get more crazy, we see a lot of things on the news that we thought we'd never see - like lock downs at schools due to shootings or other violence. Recently, my Jr. High student experienced smoke inhalation at school because the tar roof caught on fire. The smoke from the fire was sucked down through the ventilation system thus causing an evacuation.
Anyway, this Boy Scout did more than just raise awareness. He presented a plan. He sent home a list for every student in the school in case of a disaster.
This list told each parent to get a gallon sized Ziploc bag and fill it with non-perishable snacks (crackers, gum, hard candies).
He also suggested coloring books, crayons, games and cards to keep the kids busy during a scary time.
The teachers kept each child's bag in the classroom where they could get at it. I love innovative people! This is a good idea for us all!

ASPARAGUS...FOR PREVENTION AND IT'S NUTRITIOUS.
Good old 'sense and balance'....? Works!
Asparagus
Certainly won't do any harm to try it if needed. As for the AMA, sounds about right.
ASPARAGUS
A lady had been taking the full-stalk canned style asparagus that she pureed and she took 4 tablespoons in the morning and 4 tablespoons later in the day.
20
She did this for over a month.
She is on chemo pills for Stage 3 lung cancer in the pleural area and her cancer cell count went from 386 down to 125 as of this past week.
Her oncologist said she does not 20
need to see him for 3 months.
THE ARTICLE:
Several years ago,
I had a man seeking asparagus
for a friend who had cancer.
He gave me a photocopied copy
of an article, entitled,
..Asparagus for cancer' printed in Cancer News Journal, December 1979.
I will share it here,
just as it was shared with =2 0 me:
'I am a biochemist, and have specialized in the relation of diet to health
for over 50 years..
Several years ago, I learned of the
discovery of Richard R. Vensal, D.D.S.
that asparagus might cure cancer..
Since then, I have worked
with him on his project.
We have accumulated a
number of favorable case histories.
Here =2 0 are a few examples:
Case No.
1, A man with an almost hopeless case of Hodgkin's disease
(cancer of the lymph glands) who was completely incapacitated.
Within 1 year of starting the asparagus the rapy, his doctors were unable to detect any signs of cancer, and he was back on a schedule of strenuous exercise.
Case No. 2, a successful businessman
68 years old who suffered from
cancer of the bladder for 16 years.
After years of medical treatments, including radiation without improvement, he went on asparagus.
Within 3 months,
examinations revealed that his bladder tumor had disappeared and 20
that his kidneys were normal.
Case No. 3, a man who had lung cancer.
On March 5th 1971, he was put on
the operating table where they found20lung cancer so widely spread that it was inoperable.
The surgeon sewed him up and declared
his case hopeless.
On April 5th he heard about the asparagus therapy and immediately started taking it.
By August, x-ray pictures revealed that all signs of the cancer had disappeared..
He is back at his regular business routine.
Case No.
4, a woman who was troubled for a number of years with skin cancer.
She finally developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by the acting specialist as advanced.
Within 3 months after starting on
asparagus, her skin specialist said 20
that her skin looked fine and no more skin lesions.
This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cured her kidney =2 0 disease, which started in 1949.
She had over 10 operations for kidney stones, and was receiving government disability paym ents for an inoperable, terminal, kidney condition.
She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble entirely to the asparagus.
I was not surprised at this result, 20
as ..The elements of materia medica',
edited in 1854 by a Professor at the University of Pennsylvania , stated that
asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney stones.
He even referred to experiments, in 1739,
on the power of asparagus in dissolving stones.
Note the dates!
We would have other case histories
but the medical establishment has
interfered with our obtaining some of the =2 0 records.
I am therefore appealing to readers to spread this good news and help us to gather a large number of case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this unbelievably simple and natural remedy.
For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore
canned asparagus is just as good as fresh.
I have corresponded with the two leading canners of asparagus, Giant and
Stokely, and I am satisfied that
these brands contain no pesticides or
preservatives.
Place the cooked asparagus in a blender
and liquefy to make a puree, and
store in the refrigerator.
Give the patient 4 full tablespoons
twice daily, morning and evening.
Patients usually show some improvement
in from 2-4 weeks.
It can be diluted with water and used
20
as a cold or hot drink.
This suggested dosage is based on
present experience, but certainly larger amounts can do no harm and may
be needed in some cases.
As a biochemist I am convinced of the old saying that ..
=2 0
what cures can prevent'.
Based on this theory, my wife and I have been using asparagus puree as
a beverage with our meals.
We take 2 tablespoons diluted in
water to suit our taste with breakfast
and with dinner.
I take mine hot and my wife prefers hers cold.
For years we have made it a practice
to have blood surveys taken as part
of our regular checkups.
The last blood survey, taken by a medical doctor who specializes in the
nutritional approach to health, showed substantial improvements in all
categories over the last one, and we can attribute these improvements to nothing but the asparagus drink...
As a biochemist, I have made an extensive study of all aspects of cancer,
and all of the proposed cures.
As a result, I am convinced that
asparagus fits in better with the
latest theories about cancer.
Asparagus contains a good supply of protein called histones, which are
believed to be active in controlling cell growth.
For that reason,
I believe asparagus can be said 20 to
contain a substance that I call cell growth normalizer.
That accounts for its action on cancer
and in acting as a general body tonic.
In any event, regardless of theory, asparagus used as we suggest, is a
harmless substance.
The FDA cannot prevent you from using it and it may do you much good.
It has been reported by the US National Cancer Institute, that asparagus is =2 0 the
highest tested food containing glutathione, which is considered
20
one of the body's most potent anticarcinogens and antioxidants.
