Clear The Track Margaret's Back!

Margaret F. Woods, CPA, FCGA, CFE

As a long-time resident and supporter of the White Rock community, I have decided to re-enter the world of municipal politics.
Since my 2005 departure from White Rock City Council, I have continued being active in community affairs. I am truly excited at the prospect of, once again, serving the people of White Rock as a member of council, after the November 2014 municipal election.

During the next 6 months or so, I look forward to hearing from my friends and neighbours, as well as the business community, about their issues and concerns and how I can put to good use both my previous council experience and business expertise in helping resolve our community problems and bring some order and stability to the development of our beautiful City by the Sea.

Back To Works

The City of White Rock has released details of the settlement that caused the members of CUPE to return to work.

On Monday 2 June, White Rock City Council ratified the labour relations agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 402-01.

Highlights include:

A term of four (4) years from 2012 to 2015 and increase of wages, 6.75% over four years, consistent with settlements entered by the Lower Mainland and other CUPE locals.

City assistance in the facilitation of a CUPE administered long-term disability plan Increase in part-time and casual employees benefits Hours of work improvements to maintain the flexibility required in key areas of community service.

We acknowledge that the strike was difficult for our residents, businesses, and all staff. Residents and businesses responded by showing patience and civic pride. The strong sense of community that we share in White Rock only grows more apparent during these times. We recognize and greatly appreciate everyone's efforts.

Now that we have reached an agreement, what is important is that we focus on moving forward together. The work required to resume all City services is well underway and we know all staff in the City of White Rock are looking forward to continue delivering exceptional service to the public.
We appreciate residents and businesses understanding as we reintroduce full services.
